Garren Diggs, Cigar Enthusiast, Entrepreneur, and Military Veteran grew up in Anne Arundel County, Maryland (Annapolis), came into the cigar industry two years ago, launching his boutique brand of cigars called The Leaf Suite Premium Cigars (TLSPC).

The TLSPC brand premiers three (3) blends of cigars – The Norwood, Gifted & Living a Dream (GLD), and The S.T.I.K. (The Suite’est Thing I Know). The Norwood pays homage to his Great Grandfather, Norwood T. Brown, who served as the first black Alderman (from 1951 until 1967) representing the Parole area of Annapolis when it was annexed into the City of Annapolis in 1951.  

The Cut - Let the journey begin! Garren, known by many as “G”, has been smoking cigars for over 10 years, his first cigar experience came by way of a friend who had brought him cigars as a gift from their overseas travel. G was very green, but immediately enticed by the culture started puffing on cigars. G was making his cigar choices either by how cool the label looked or by how hard it was to pronounce the Latin name written on the label. He later began selecting his cigars by the way they cost. His thought was that if it cost $20 dollars or more you were puffing on something distinguished or Cuban’esq. For a novice turned enthusiast, this way of thinking was far from accurate.

The Light - Becoming Cigar Educated! For G, the internet, YouTube, magazines, books, conferences, and events have credited to his increased knowledge of cigars, but he highly credits the many lounges he has visited or frequently visits as his haven for learning. Cigars are often the “center piece” of discussion when you are amongst Brothers and Sisters of the leaf (BOTL/SOTL). From that he has become a bit of a teacher sharing his knowledge recommending blends based on suggested profiles sought to new and seasoned smokers. 

The Draw - Adding a “new” face to the cigar industry! G defines his cigar factory rolling trips to Dominican Republic in 2015 and Honduras in 2017, as a true eye-opening moment about the industry of cigars. G watched the men and women workers in those countries complete the process from deveining the tobacco leaves to hand rolling the cigars into a fine finished product.  

The concept of having a cigar brand came to G, by way of a dream and later discussed with some friends over coffee, bourbon and of course cigars. G spends much of his time working and researching creatively to find ways to break through the industry with a face not familiar in this business. Consistently collaborating with other like-minded individuals has paid some dividends by opening some opportunities and a steady following.   

TLSPC is slowly but steadily growing, cigars can be found in lounges in Annapolis and Edgewater, MD. TLSPC was headliner for an event at Fusion Lounge in Philadelphia, PA, in April for Philly Cigar Week 2021. TLSPC has had the pleasure of vending at events and selling cigars across the country via website at theleafsuite.com.
